Set among beautiful native trees and streams, Rainbow Springs is home to a variety of New Zealand’s most precious inhabitants, including kiwi, tuatara, trout and native birds.
The nature park also features a kiwi hatchery and rearing facility — the country’s largest and most successful kiwi conservation centre.
Visitors are able to enjoy the adrenaline rush of the Big Splash, explore free flight aviaries, feed the birds their breakfast, come face-to-face with tuatara, talk to Jenny the hand-reared kea, feed large wild trout and experience the wonder of Rainbow Springs’ bird show, starring some of the funniest feathered performers.

Hidden throughout the Rainbow Springs park are some exciting hands-on play installations that teach about native species and conservation in a fun and interactive way.
User experiences where you could see like a tuatara or dig for grubs like a kiwi were built around the park with accompanying signage that was created and developed in collaboration with design agency Thoughtful.
